Five New Year's Resolutions for Your Home Decor

Happy (almost) New Year! There’s a buzz in the air looking forward to a new year full of possibilities.
Your home deserves a fresh new start for the new year too! Here are five simple trends that you can try in the upcoming year to give your home an updated look.
Try the Color of the Year- This year, Sherwin Williams announced that their color of year is Evergreen Fog. Try painting a room with this cool and soothing green color. It looks great in bedrooms to add a relaxing hue. If you don’t want the commitment of adding paint, try adding accents to a neutral room with Evergreen Fog accessories. We love changing out throw pillows or adding a soft blanket to bring in more color.(Please note, the links in this post are affiliate links. Add More Nature- Houseplants have had a moment in the last few years, and they aren’t going anywhere! The addition of greenery and life to a space is one of the best resolutions you can make. Start small by adding a new plant to each room throughout the year. The greenery adds life and plants help to purify the air in our homes.
Embrace Traditional Style- While farmhouse style and mid century modern are still some of the most popular styles for home decor, there’s a new (yet old) contender. Traditional style is a beautiful upgrade for your home. Rich colors, design features evocative of the 18th and 19th centuries, and balanced details make up this school of design.
Go Sustainable- Sustainable furniture can be a great way to bring in elements that will last for a long time and have a positive environmental impact. From reclaimed wood to recycled materials to locally made items, there are tons of ways you can resolve to add something sustainable to your home in the new year. Instead of buying less-than-sustainable pieces, consider trying some sustainable items as you add pieces this year.
Invest in Your Home Office- More of us are now working from home than ever before. A home office is no longer a luxury, it’s an essential space in many homes. If you’re still working with a kitchen table chair and an undersized desk, consider this your sign to invest in your office. A comfortable chair, upgraded storage pieces, a well thought-out desk setup are all wonderful ways to make your home office a space where you’ll want to spend eight plus hours per day. Resolve to make your home office a place that is more productive and pleasant place to be.
